Regional Conference “Openly about Public Spaces”

The regional conference "Openly about Public Spaces" was held from 12th to 13th April 2011. It was organized by the CI Youth Program and the European center for culture and debate GRAD.

Youth activists, artists and representatives of various organizations and initiatives from Serbia and neighboring countries exchanged experiences in lobbying to obtain space for their activities.

The second day of the conference was dedicated to the topic "Art in the Public Spaces", which was discussed during the debate. Aleksandar Bobic, PaPs Program coordinator, presented PaPs program and our recent activities. Other debaters were Prof. Vesna Knežević (Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade), Aleksandar Đerić (programme director of Academica NGO), Aleksandra Jelic (The Centre for Theatre Research - ApsArt).

Later that day, as part of awareness raising activity, a buss tour "Art in Public Spaces: Streets = Museum" was organized for more than 50 participants to illustrate that public spaces are not being sufficiently used (led by Milica Pekic, art historian).

The campaign "Openly about Public Spaces" is supported by the USAID and implemented by the ISC.
